Selected Experience
- Assisted with development of human resources governance at company with 1700 employees, including drug and alcohol, respectful workplace, and diversity and inclusion policies.
- Member of industry team that developed safety sensitive workplace policies addressing cannabis legalization.
- Guided and supported labour related matters, including grievances, negotiation strategies and tactics, and day-to-day labour relations issues.
- Appeared before numerous administrative tribunals, including the Alberta Utilities Commission, Alberta Energy Regulator, Human Rights Commission and Alberta Labour Relations Board.
- Acted as counsel to the Alberta Energy Utilities Board on controversial sour gas applications on City of Calgary outskirts and in sensitive environmental areas.
- Provided guidance on employment issues, including hiring, termination, investigations and discipline.
- Presided over numerous settlements of disputes through direct negotiation or mediation ranging from commercial disagreements to personal matters.
- Appeared before all levels of courts in Alberta, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Instructed landmen association on effective methods of landowner engagement.
- Taught students enrolled in the legal assistant diploma program at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology for more than 15 years.
