Jeff has a long history of meeting business objectives by providing strategic and practical solutions to legal and regulatory issues.
In almost thirty years of legal practice, Jeff spent a decade at a leading national firm, followed by VP Legal and Associate General Counsel positions at two leading Alberta power companies before joining InHaus.
Selected Experience
- Acquisition and sale of natural gas and waste heat generation facilities.
- Project development, including wind farms, a district energy system, hydro generation facilities, natural gas generation facilities, including joint ventures, operating agreements, financing, EPC agreements, LTSAs, procurement, major equipment supply agreements and PPA/off-take/tolling/sales agreements and resolution of disputes through negotiation, arbitration, litigation and regulatory applications.
- Transmission, distribution and retail utility development, construction and operations.
- Wholesale and retail electricity and gas transactions, including drafting and negotiating agreements for commercial and industrial users.
- Strategic partner within power companies formulating products and services, and generating precedent documents.
- Power market development, including deregulation of Alberta electricity industry, derivatives, simplified sales contracts and related advertising.
- Compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation and safety incident/fatality investigations, including maintaining privilege, reporting to regulators and the development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Reporting to Board and Board committees on various legal issues and risks.
- Development and implementation of governance policies, procedures and agreements.
